These pieces are blown glass, incorporating opaque and transparent colored glass as well as glass enamels. They range in height from 10 to 15 inches.
The process involves five stages of work, three of them with the piece in a hot, or molten state, and two whilethe piece is cold.
Each piece takes about a week to complete. While the lines and feel of these pieces are deceptively simple, the process by which they are made is quite complex. The bright colors and surface textures are produced by hand painting with glass enamels while the piece is cold . It is then cased in a layer of clear molten glass before being blown to its final form.
Our painted graal series is unique, resulting in painterly designs of bold primary and secondary colors on modified traditional vessel forms.
